NONPARAMETRIC FIXED EFFECT PANEL DATA MODELS: RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AIR POLLUTION AND INCOME FOR TURKEY

Year 2013, Volume: 14 Issue: 1, 91 - 103, 03.10.2013

Abstract

In this study, relationship between gross domestic product (GDP) per capita and sulfur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (PM10) per capita is modeled for Turkey. Nonparametric fixed effect panel data analysis is used for the modeling. The panel data covers 12 territories, in first level of Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS), for period of 1990-2001. Modeling of the relationship between GDP and (SO2)  and PM10 for Turkey, the non-parametric models have given good results.
