This study is conducted to determine whether the Kovid-19 pandemic is effective on Turkey's manufacturing industry. The VIX fear index was used in the study to represent the Kovid-19 pandemic. The PMI manufacturing industry index was used to represent the manufacturing industry. Time series methods that take structural break into account were used for analysis. As a result of the analysis, a structural break was detected in April 2019, when the Kovid-19 pandemic occurred, and it was concluded that this break negatively affected the manufacturing industry production. In addition, a significant and negative relationship was found between the VIX index and the PMI index. It is concluded that Kovid-19 pandemic has the negative impact on Turkey's manufacturing industry.
Bu çalışmada, Kovid-19 salgının Türkiye’nin imalat sanayisi üzerinde etkili olup olmadığı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Kovid-19 salgınını temsilen çalışmada VIX korku endeksi kullanılmıştır. İmalat sanayiyi temsilen ise PMI imalat sanayi endeksi kullanılmıştır. Analiz için yapısal kırılmayı dikkate alan zaman serisi yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Analizin sonucunda, Kovid-19 salgının meydana geldiği 2019 yılı Nisan ayında yapısal kırılma tespit edilmiş ve bu kırılmanın imalat sanayi üretimini olumsuz etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, VIX endeksi ile PMI endeksi arasında anlamlı ve negatif ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Yani, Kovid-19 salgınının Türkiye’nin imalat sanayi üzerinde olumsuz etkisinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
