A Correlative Study on The Functions of International and Regional Organizations in Conflict Management

Abstract

This paper is focused on analyzing the comparative roles of international and regional organizations in resolving national conflicts. It examines the role of United Nations as the main international organization and other sample regional organizations in resolving intra-state and inter-states conflicts on one hand and also gives an overview on both types of organizations. Main argument of the paper is regional and international organizations can work together to resolve conflicts all over the world. It equally depicts the major roles of international organizations like United Nations with it resources and how vital it can be in resolving such conflicts. We will also see examples of some regional organization with available potentials and how effective they might contribute to resolve conflicts. It should be noted that the article highlights at some points major key actors like states and how they also can assist and cooperate with both international regional and sub regional organization in conflict management.

Abstract

Bu makale, uluslararası çatışmaların çözümünde uluslararası ve bölgesel örgütlerin karşılaştırmalı rollerini analiz etmeye odaklanmıştır. Birleşmiş Milletler'in, bir yandan ülke içi ve ülkeler arası çatışmaları çözmede ana uluslararası örgüt olarak ve örnek bölgesel örgütlerin rolünü inceler ve her iki örgüt türü hakkında da bir genel bakış sunar. Makalenin ana argümanı, bölgesel ve uluslararası örgütlerin dünyanın her yerindeki çatışmaları çözmek için birlikte çalışabileceğidir. Aynı zamanda, Birleşmiş Milletler gibi uluslararası örgütlerin kaynakları ve çatışma çözümünde bu kaynakların ne kadar hayati bir rol oynayabileceğine de dikkat çeker. Ayrıca, mevcut potansiyelleri olan bazı bölgesel örgüt örneklerini ve çatışmaları çözmek için ne kadar etkili olabileceklerini de ortaya koyar. Makale devletler gibi önemli aktörlerin ve çatışma yönetiminde hem bölgesel örgütler hem de bu örgütlerin alt kuruluşları ile nasıl işbirliği yapabileceklerini vurgulamaktadır.
