A Bibliometric View of International Publications On Global Hunger
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the findings on issues such as how the issue is examined in international publications on global hunger and the course of studies on global hunger from past to present. It is also aimed to identify international scientific studies in the field of economics on global hunger. The data obtained through the query within the scope of this study were taken from the WoS database, and the data were analyzed from different lenses using VOSviewer and Excel. 490 publications covering the period 2013-2024 were examined, and it was determined that the most studies were conducted in the field of Nutrition Dietetics with 76 publications, in 2022 with 78 studies, and in the USA with 113 studies. It has been seen that the main issues examined in the studies are agriculture, climate change, management, micro nutrition, sustainable development goals and malnutrition. Among the 490 publications analyzed, the number of studies in the field of economics was determined to be 33, and citation analysis was performed by repeating the bibliometric analysis and keyword analysis of these studies. It has been found that Food Policy is the journal that publishes the most publications in the field of economics on global hunger, and 21 studies are related to Zero Hunger, one of the sustainable development goals, and 20 studies are related to the No Poverty goal. Research in economics has focused on Africa, corruption, hunger, poverty, unemployment, food security and malnutrition. This study provides a retrospective of the scientific work and collective efforts of global hunger-related scientists in top-ranked journals, which will help to better understand the literature development and intellectual structure on the subject.
