THE EFFECT OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS’ PERCEPTION OF NATIONAL CULTURE ON THEIR LEADERSHIP STYLES

Öz

In this study, it is aimed to examine the
relationship between school administrators' national culture perception and
leadership styles and to explain the effect of national culture perception on
the formation of leadership styles. The study is a descriptive and relational
research that is quantitative-oriented and designed with a survey model.
According to the data obtained from the questionnaire, the hypotheses of the
research were tested by applying reliability analysis, factor analysis,
correlation analysis and multiple regression analyzes. The findings of the
analyzes show that there is a positive, significant and weak relationship
between national culture and leadership styles. According to the results of the
research, it is seen that national culture has a significant effect on the
leadership styles of school administrators. That there is no ideal leadership
style in all conditions and situations; It is seen that managers are influenced
by the national culture they live in while showing leadership style within the
organization.

OKUL YÖNETİCİLERİNİN ULUSAL KÜLTÜR ALGILARININ LİDERLİK TARZLARINA ETKİSİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Bu çalışmada okul
yöneticilerinin ulusal kültür algıları ile liderlik tarzları arasındaki ilişki
incelenmekte ve liderlik tarzlarının oluşmasında ulusal kültür algılarının
etkisinin açıklanması amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma nicel yönelimli, betimsel ve
ilişkisel bir araştırma olup tarama modeli ile desenlendi. Araştırmada
kullanılan veriler Gaziantep il merkezinde yerleşik kamu ilkokullarında görev
yapan 145 okul yöneticisinden yüz yüze anket yöntemiyle toplandı. Araştırma
hipotezlerini test etmek üzere korelasyon ve çoklu regresyon analizleri uygulandı.
Elde edilen bulgular, ulusal kültür ile liderlik tarzları arasında pozitif ve anlamlı,
ancak zayıf düzeyde bir ilişkinin olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırma
sonuçlarına göre, okul yöneticilerinin sahip olduğu liderlik tarzlarının
oluşmasında ulusal kültürün önemli bir etkisinin olduğu tespit edildi. Her şart
ve durumda geçerli ideal bir liderlik tarzının olmadığı; yöneticilerin örgüt
içinde liderlik tarzı gösterirken yaşadığı ulusal kültürden etkilendiği
görülmektedir.
