Influence of the Work-Family Conflict on Organizational Cynicism and Intermediary Role of The Life Satisfaction

Öz

This
study aims to identify the level of work-family conflict, life satisfactions
and organizational cynicism of the families who are working in the tourism
industry and to reveal the causal relationships between these phenomenon.
According to the results of field work conducted in 2015 within the scope of
this research with 427 employees from five star hotels operating in Antalya,
the work-family conflict of the employees is moderate. While moderate results
are achieved in the point of life satisfaction, it is determined that the
organizational cynicism is relatively low. Hierarchical Regression Analysis was
made in order to test the hypotheses which are established within the scope of
this study’s purpose and theoretical framework. It is determined that
work-family conflict is a predictor variable on the life satisfaction and
cynicism.
Another
result reached through the study is that life satisfaction acts as a partial
mediator between work-family conflict and organizational cynicism. Accordingly,
it is seen that organizational cynicism which is caused by work-family conflict
arises from its impacts on life satisfaction.
