Abstract

Bu çalışma, Türkiye ve Almanya'daki özel ve kamu sermayeli mevduat bankalarının finansal performanslarını analiz etmeyi ve karşılaştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın analizinde bağımsız değişkenler olarak faiz gideri, faiz geliri, faiz dışı gider, faiz dışı gelir; bağımlı değişkenler olarak da aktif karlılığı ve özkaynak karlılığı kullanılmıştır. Bu dört bağımsız değişkenin bir arada kullanıldığı literatürdeki ilk çalışma olmasından dolayı literatüre önemli bir katkı sağlamaktadır. Bağımsız değişkenler arasındaki yüksek korelasyon problemini çözmek ve performansı etkileyen en önemli bileşenleri belirlemek için Temel Bileşenler Analizi (Principal Component Analysis-PCA) uygulanmıştır. Bağımsız değişkenler (PCA bileşenleri) ile bağımlı değişkenler (aktif karlılığı ve özkaynak karlılığı) arasındaki ilişkileri modellemek için çoklu doğrusal regresyon modeli kullanılmıştır. Gruplar arasındaki farklılıkları analiz etmek için Kruskal-Wallis H-testi uygulanmış ve finansal performans metriklerinde anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye ve Almanya'daki özel ve kamu sermayeli mevduat bankalarının finansal performanslarında önemli farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Regresyon modelinin ortalama kare hata değeri olan 0,00138, yapılan tahminlerin güvenilirliğini göstermektedir.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the financial performances of private and public deposit banks in Turkey and Germany. In the analysis of the study, the independent variables are interest expense, interest income, non-interest expense, non-interest income; Return on assets and return on equity have used as dependent variables. Since it is the first study in the literature where these four independent variables are used together, it makes a significant contribution to the literature. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has applied to solve the problem of high correlation between independent variables and to identify the most important components affecting performance. A multiple linear regression model has used to model the relationships between independent variables (PCA components) and dependent variables (return on assets and return on equity). Kruskal-Wallis H-test has applied to analyze the differences between the groups and it has found that there have significant differences in financial performance metrics. As a result, significant differences have identified in the financial performances of private and public deposit banks in Turkey and Germany. The mean square error value of the regression model, 0.00138, shows the reliability of the predictions.
