Ülke CDS Primleri ile Borsa Endeksi, Döviz Kuru ve Tahvil Faizi Arasındaki İlişki: Türkiye Örneği

Abstract

Bir ülkenin kredibilitesinin ve yatırımcı duyarlılığının temel bir gösterge olan CDS primlerinin borsa, döviz ve faiz ilişkisi, gelişmekte olan ülkelerin ekonomilerinde her dönem önemli bir araştırma konusu olmuştur. Bu çalışma Türkiye CDS primi ile BİST 100, Euro, Dolar ve tahvil faizi arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişkinin varlığını araştırmaktadır. Çalışmada seriler arasındaki uzun dönemli ilişkinin tespitinde değişkenlerde yapısal kırılmaların yapı, zaman ve sayısını tespit etme zorunluluğu sunmayan Fourier temelli testler kullanılmıştır. 01 Ocak 2015 - 01 Ocak 2025 dönemine ait günlük frekanstaki verilerin zaman serileri incelendikten sonra yapısına göre uygulanacak testler seçilmiş, öncelikle Fourier KPSS durağanlık testi ile durağanlık seviyeleri tespit edilmiş, ardından Fourier SHIN eş bütünleşme testi uygulanmıştır. Analiz sonucunda Ülke CDS priminin BİST 100 ile arasında uzun dönemde eş bütünleşme ilişkisi tespit edilmemişken Euro, Dolar kuru ve tahvil faizi ile arasında uzun dönemli ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Ülke CDS primi ile BİST 100 arasında eş bütünleşme ilişkisinin olmaması BİST 100’ün daha çok iç dinamikler veya küresel piyasa koşullarıyla şekillendiği şeklinde yorumlanabilir. Ülke CDS priminin dolar kuru ile eş bütünleşme ilişkisinin olması ise ülke CDS primindeki değişimlerin ekonomik risk algısıyla dövize yönlendirildiği şeklinde yorumlanabilir. Ülke CDS primi ile tahvil faizi arasında eş bütünleşik ilişkinin olması ülkenin borçlanma masraflarının kredi riskine karşı duyarlı olduğunu göstermektedir.

Abstract

The relationship between sovereign CDS premiums, a fundamental indicator of a country's credibility and investor sentiment, and stock markets, exchange rates, and bond interest rates has always been an important research topic in emerging market economies. In this study, the long-run relationship between Turkey's CDS premium and BIST 100, Euro, Dollar and Treasury bond interest rates is analyzed. In this analysis, Fourier-based tests, which do not require the identification of the structure, time and number of structural breaks in the variables, are used to determine the long-run relationship between the series. The stationarity levels of the daily frequency data for the period 01/01/2015-01/1/2025 are determined by Fourier KPSS stationarity test and then Fourier SHIN cointegration test is applied. As a result of the analysis, no long-run cointegration relationship was found between the CDS premium and the BIST 100, while a long-run relationship was found between the CDS premium and the Euro, Dollar and Treasury bond interest rates. The fact that the country CDS premium does not have a cointegration relationship with the BIST 100 can be considered that the BIST 100 is mostly shaped by domestic dynamics or global market conditions. It can be argued that changes in the CDS premium are reflected in exchange rates due to economic risk perception. The relationship between the CDS premium and the bond interest rate suggests that a country's debt costs are sensitive to credit risk.
