She was born in Ankara. She took a step into radio and television programming at Anadolu University, where she had her undergraduate education. After graduation, she made programs in Numberone FM and Radyo D. She started living in England in 2003 and attended many education courses related to her field. She has been preparing and presenting education and youth programs on television since 2008. She addressed young people with nearly 1000 programs in 13 years. İldaş, who previously prepared and presented programs on Skytürk, Habertürk and Show TV, has been meeting with the audience since 2015 with the education program Yolun Başındayken on Habertürk TV. İldaş has received many national and international awards for the programs she prepared.

İldaş completed her master’s and doctorate degrees at Istanbul University, Department of Public Relations and Publicity; and as of 2010, she lectured at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), at the Department of Cinema and Television at Işık University, and at the Department of Public Relations and Publicity at Istinye University; and she is currently a faculty member at Maltepe University. In addition to her academic publications, Görkem İldaş has a book called Yolun Başındayken, which includes interviews with prominent names in the field on youth and university years. She also gives seminars on her areas of expertise and takes place as a speaker in national and international organizations. İldaş is also the founder of Vanilla Media, the first and only production company and advertising agency focusing on the education sector in Turkey.
