Abstract

Social capital is defined as “networks together with shared norms, values and understandings that facilitate co-operation within or among groups”. The concept of social capital is the popular research topics of the recent literature. There is extensive interdisiplinary literature on social capital. Nevertheless, there is no consensus about the definition of the term, determination of indicators and measurement. In this case, the research on social capital is difficult. In this study it’s aimed to be addressed the determination of individual earnings of social capital in the case of Yalova city which is a kind of capital like physical and human capital. The findings of the econometric analysis are consistent with the results of similar studies in social capital literature. According to the results of estimation, social capital and human capital variables are effective and important factors in the formation of differences in individual earnings.

Bireysel Kazançların Belirlenmesinde Sosyal Sermayenin Rolü (Yalova Örneği)

Abstract

Sosyal sermaye, toplumsal ağlar yoluyla paylaşılan müşterek normlar, değerler ve anlayışların gruplar içerisinde ya da arasındaki işbirliğini kolaylaştırması olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Sosyal sermaye kavramı son dönemin popüler araştırma konuları arasında yer almaktadır. Sosyal sermaye hakkında disiplinler arası geniş bir literatür bulunmaktadır. Buna rağmen, kavramın tanımlanması, göstergelerinin belirlenmesi ve ölçülmesi konusunda bir birlik söz konusu değildir. Bu durum, sosyal sermayeyi konu alan çalışmaları güçleştirmektedir.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, fiziki ve beşeri sermaye gibi bir sermaye türü olarak kabul edilen sosyal sermayenin bireysel kazançların belirlenmesindeki rolünü Yalova İli özelinde ortaya koymaktır.  Ekonometrik analiz bulguları, sosyal sermaye literatüründeki benzer çalışmaların sonuçları ile paralellik göstermektedir. Tahmin sonuçlarına göre; sosyal sermaye ve beşeri sermaye değişkenleri bireysel kazanç farklılıklarının oluşumunda etkili ve önemli faktörlerdir.
