Abstract

In this study, the relationship between trade openness and current account deficit in Turkey is investigated with the ARDL co-integration method developed by Pesaran et al. (2001) using data 1991:Q4-2013:Q1 period. According to obtained evidences there is a cointegration relationship between trade openness and current account deficit, namely determined that an increase in the trade openness is a factor increase current account deficit. And with the error correction model, observed that short-term deviations between the series moving together in the long-term were eliminated. These results confirm the theoretical expectations
